English:A hot milk or water jug, moulded in the form of a cauliflower, a popular form for this period. The handle and finial suggest an attribution to Cockpit Hill in Derby.

Some glaze loss to one side & underneath, probably in manufacturing.

Leeds Pottery: An excellent covered hot water or milk jug in creamware, enamelled in the Rhodes style, probably by his successor in Leeds, Robinson & Co.

Unmarked. The reflex flower with spiral centre finial is diagnostic of Leeds Pottery. See Towner V8, IX10 and VII4 for details.

Small chip to rim, which doesn't show with lid in place.

WEDGWOOD: Tazza, or footed plate. A fine example of Wedgwood's work in majolica, with an Email Obrant centrepiece. The shading is created by using different depths of glaze.

Minor crazing as is usual with this technique. Date mark for 1893.

William Greatbatch made pottery for Josiah Wedgwood, and also on his own account, for some 20 years before he went bankrupt and became Works Manager for Wedgwood. While working for himself, he designed, made, printed and enamelled fine examples of his art, such as this teapot. He was particularly known for the Prodigal Son series, of which this pot is an example. Creamware, printed & enamelled.

Unmarked. Spout is type II/6 in Towner's Creamware, where he says this spout 'appears to have been made at Leeds Pottery only'. Colour of glaze and other features all point towards a Leeds Pottery manufacture.
